At seven weeks old, these farm collie puppies continue to be a joy to have around. It has been an incredible journey – from their first tentative steps to now bouncing and running around like mini dogs. Amazing.
This week sees a continuation of last week’s milestones:
Exploration and Independence: One of the most noticeable changes in our collie puppies at seven weeks old is their increasing independence and curiosity. They’ve become more adventurous, eagerly exploring their surroundings with newfound confidence. What once seemed like a vast and intimidating world to them is now a playground filled with exciting sights, sounds, and smells. Whether it’s investigating a new toy or romping around with their littermates, their boundless energy and enthusiasm are a joy to behold.
Physical Development: Physically, our collie puppies have made significant strides over the past week. Their coordination has improved leaps and bounds, allowing them to navigate obstacles and rough terrain with relative ease. The biggest puppy, Caspian, has even figured out how to climb out of his play pen! Their once-wobbly gait has transformed into a more purposeful stride, with increased strength and agility. Additionally, their senses continue to sharpen, with their keen eyesight and acute hearing enabling them to detect even the subtlest of movements and sounds.
Socialization and Bonding: Socialization remains a key focus as our collie puppies approach the two-month mark. They continue to interact with their littermates, engaging in play fights, chase games, and other forms of canine communication. These interactions not only strengthen their bond with each other but also lay the groundwork for healthy social behavior in the future. Furthermore, our puppies are spending more time with humans, eagerly seeking out affection and companionship. Whether it’s cuddling on the couch or eagerly greeting us at the door, their love and loyalty know no bounds.
Introduction to Training: At seven weeks old, our farm collie puppies are also beginning their journey into the world of training. While they’re still young, they’re eager and enthusiastic learners, soaking up new information like sponges. Basic obedience commands such as “sit,” “stay,” and “come” are introduced in short, gentle training sessions.
Preparation for New Homes: As our farm collie puppies approach the eight-week mark, preparations are underway for their transition to their forever homes. They will recieve their first round of vaccinations next Wednesday (Valentines Day!) and undergo thorough health check-ups to ensure they’re in optimal health. Additionally, they’re now fully weaned off their mother’s milk and fed a diet of high-quality puppy food to support their growing bodies. While saying goodbye will be bittersweet, we take comfort in knowing that our puppies will bring endless joy and happiness to their new families.
As they continue on their journey of growth, we look forward to witnessing the amazing dogs they will become. Stay tuned for more updates as our collie puppies embark on their next adventure!
