Experience life on the farm . . .
My daughter came home from school one day sharing that in class she was told that American farms from 100 years ago used to almost all have milk cows, goats, chickens, horses, pigs – all sorts of animals along with crops and big gardens to support their family. She said when she raised her hand and told her teacher “Our farm is just like that!” he laughed and said, “Marion, your farm is not a normal farm.”
We might not be normal in the world of modern agriculture, but we work hard and are proud to farm our 40 acres very much in the way our grandparents and great grandparents did; smaller scale with lots of animal and crop diversity.
We would love share this experience with you. During a farm experience we will take you through our daily chores routine, which includes:
- Milk a goat or cow
- Collect chicken eggs
- Give bottles to baby lambs or kids
- Brush ponies
- Pasture walk to check on our grazing cows, sheep, and goats
- A snack to end the tour from our farm kitchen (baked by our resident cottage food bakers)
